RIP Officer Shelly Crowder

It’s so surreal when you read about the death of someone you knew. It’s like all the memories you had of them come rushing out.

I was a Police Explorer in PG, although mostly in it for the community service aspect it was something very few people actually do.  You meet with the police and learn about their jobs and their training. There are so many great memories from it…sadly it was back in the days when I didn’t use my camera much and didn’t have one for most of it.  There was the time we learned about K-9 units and we all got to try on the bite suit and got to watch the K-9 unit work together to take down someone in the bite suit.  We worked bingo to go on snowboarding and Six Flags trips.  We learned about radars and scanners, about the requirements for police to carry pepper spray, and a bunch of other random facts.  I remember during our training where we worked together to infiltrate a room, and Liana pointed the gun at herself when we were doing hand motions and we all freaked out even though they were all unloaded.  And the fire arms training simulation where my trigger finger was a bit too quick…and my aim was terrible for moving targets while under pressure.

But with Office Crowder the thing I remember the most was my ride-along with her. I only got to do one.  We went around PG and she showed me all the trouble spots, the hot spots for drug deals and places most teenagers hide out to party. We answered a call of vandalism where someone had dumped spaghetti on some dude’s car and egged his door or something (which she couldn’t really do anything for since it’s something that can just be washed off) We went to some Chinese place at the intersection where PG meets CH. Talked to another officer about how good boiled peanuts are XD and ended the night semi investigating some drama at the Comfort Inn where some pregnant lady was having a dispute with other people or something… I think someone almost got run over. Now that I’m writing all this I remember I did a whole post on how that ride along went….haha just pulled it up and read it..so many details, it was a long day (~8hr ride along) and so much had happened… I can’t believe that was all the way back in 2009…

I wish the best for her husband and all the other PG officers.  It’s from my time as a Police Explorer that I don’t hate on police officers nearly as much as other people around me.

i was listening to people in IS complain about having to edit videos for classes earlier today, totally jelly

IS is still open over the summer, maybe i’ll make a video or something, def more photoshoots with the ppl staying in bburg, hiking trips, swimming parties, game nights ^_^ can’t wait

…i jus wanna sleep :(
